Trump's Military Parade Met by Nationwide "No Kings" Protests

Demonstrations Opposed to the Monarch in Multiple U.S. Locations

On the very day Donald Trump's grand military extravaganza unfolds in Washington, cities beyond the capital are reverberating with a different symphony – a resounding chorus of "No Kings."

As preparations reach their climax for the controversial parade, a wave of protests, rooted in the belief that Trump yearns to be treated like a monarch, surges across the country.

Despite the stated purpose of the parade – marking the 250th anniversary of the US Army – protests against the pomp and circumstance, and the hefty price tag associated with it, have gained significant traction.

Some critics suspect that Trump's true intention is not to honor the military but to use the event as a platform for self-promotion. Amid growing disapproval, the parade finds support mainly in Trump's Republican stronghold.

Former US General Ben Hodges has poured cold water on the whole spectacle, commenting that the parade has a sinister motive – to instill fear and awe among citizens rather than serve diplomatic purposes.

Meanwhile, organizers of the "No Kings" protests also accuse Trump of overstepping his boundaries and wielding his power in authoritarian fashion. However, due to security concerns, direct demonstrations in Washington have been prohibited to avoid clashes with law enforcement.

In the face of spirited opposition, protests were canceled in some cities after the cold-blooded murder of a Democratic politician in Minnesota, along with her husband. There are whispers that the assailant may have targeted "No Kings" events.

Despite the steady rain, thousands flocked to New York to stand up against Trump's policies. Remarkable crowds were also seen in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. The overall count is expected to surpass 2,000 rallies nationwide.

In Los Angeles, organizers anticipated around 25,000 participants, making it among the largest of the protests. With tensions escalating over immigration raids, armed military forces were deployed to keep order.

The military parade in Washington is set to commence at 6:30 PM local time (00:30 AM CET). Over 7,000 soldiers draped in modern and historical uniforms, accompanied by more than 100 vehicles and aircraft, including heavy tanks, will partake. Trump, anticipating the spectacle from a tribune, will bear witness to the grand pageantry that he had initially planned for his first term but shelved due to hefty costs.
