Demonstrations opposed to monarchy in Minnesota called off following police search for an individual who fired upon two legislators.

In the small hours of Saturday morning, a chilling act of political violence unfolded across Minnesota. A man, posing as a cop, cold-bloodedly gunned down Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her spouse in their own home. Just a few miles away, fellow lawmaker Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also targeted. Governor Tim Walz quickly labeled it "targeted political violence."

Police are hot on the trail of the suspect, who operated a fake police car adorned with a chilling manifesto. The Brooklyn Park Police Chief, Mark Bruley, confirmed that this manifesto contained the names of multiple lawmakers and other officials.

Sadly, Melissa Hortman, a former Minnesota House Speaker, was just one of our esteemed leaders to meet such a violent end. At the time of her death, she was the Senate Majority Leader, a fearless figure in the State Legislature.

State Patrol Col. Christina Bogojevic implored the public not to attend any "No Kings" protests planned across the state, citing the suspect's possession of "No Kings" flyers. Organizers swiftly canceled all scheduled protests in response.

The deadly aftermath was a frightening sight: hundreds of officers swarmed the town, gun-clad deputies patrolling the streets, occasional roadblocks stopping vehicles for checks.

President Trump expressed condolences for the victims and vowed full legal action against anyone involved in this abhorrent act of violence. It was a grim reminder of the escalating violence and political tensions plaguing the nation.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large, having fled the crime scene after a hail of gunfire. Reports suggest he was impersonating a uniformed officer, driving a car eerily resembling a police SUV squad car. The full details of his writings and potential ideological motives are still veiled in mystery.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through Minnesota and beyond, as we bear witness to the dark underside of political discourse. As citizens, it's crucial we unite in condemning political violence and stand for democracy and peace.

The police are investigating a suspect who operated a fake police car with a manifesto containing the names of various lawmakers and officials, as revealed by Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley. The suspect is suspected of cold-bloodedly gunning down Senator Melissa Hortman, a former Minnesota House Speaker and current Senate Majority Leader, along with her spouse, in what Governor Tim Walz labeled as targeted political violence.
