Demonstration Breaks Out in Port Harcourt: Rivers Women Call for Reinstatement of Fubara

Fiery Protests Ignite Port Harcourt Once Again: Women Demand Governor Fubara's Reinstatement

In a boiling rage, the women of Rivers State took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Thursday, waving banners and chanting slogans under the banner of Rivers Women United for Sim (RWUS). Their lead pursuit? The reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and a return to peace in the embattled region.

"YYY, oh YYY!" the crowd chanted, their voices echoing off the government buildings. "Bring back Fubara! Save our democracy! Is the law different for Rivers State?" they cried out, their demands clear as day.

According to our sources, this isn't the first time these passionate women have taken a stand. Ever since Governor Fubara's suspension in March, they've been marching, rallying, and disillusioned, demanding a reversal of the decision.

In one of their largest demonstrations to date, hundreds of women took to the Aba Road axis of Port Harcourt, their placards bearing rousing messages, such as "Bring back Fubara" and "God of justice, arise for Rivers State".

The demonstration, though peaceful, was a testament to the women's resilience. Mothers and wives, they directed heartfelt appeals to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to end the suspension and restore democratic structures in the state.

Earlier in the week, another massive show of support took place, as large crowds loyal to Governor Fubara marched through the streets, calling for his immediate reinstatement.

In the Political Arena:

The standoff between Governor Fubara and President Tinubu remains a topic of heated debate. Tinubu's decision to declare a state of emergency and suspend the governor, his deputy, and the State Assembly members [1][2][3]has fuelled calls for a return to democratic governance.

Many, like former PDP Chairman Uche Secondus, have accused Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas of inciting crisis over the appointment of Wike's loyalist [2]. Governor Fubara remains steadfast in his party affiliation, with no confirmed plans to defect [5].

Whether in the streets or behind closed doors, the women's calls for Governor Fubara's reinstatement continue to echo. The fate of Rivers State hangs in the balance, as the people hope for peace and democratic governance.
