Don't Change Your Stripes, Dems! Fetterman Slams Party Over Suddenly Embracing Musk
Democrats unexpectedly cozying up to Musk following Trump's setback, according to Fetterman
Brash Democratic Senator John Fetterman took a swipe at his fellow Dems for seemingly backing billionaire Elon Musk out of nowhere after trashing him earlier.
The outspoken Pennsylvania Senator can't stomach the sudden change of heart from Democrats towards the tech king. With Musk's public rejection of Trump's "monstrous, extravagant spending bill" and pushing for the President's impeachment, some Democrats seem to have found an unexpected ally.
Trump and his allies are advocating for the bill, claiming it'll fulfill his key campaign promises, such as border security, American energy production, and tax cuts. But this legislation, under consideration by both a Republican-controlled executive branch and Congress, has faced difficulties – especially in the Senate this week. Certain Republicans, who initially helped pass the bill through the House, have expressed their doubts about the bill's current form. In contrast, every House Democrat voted against it.
Musk's Onslaught Against Trump's "Monstrous" Bill Shakes GOP Ranks
Despite these concerns, Musk has sparked chaos within the Republican camp through an onslaught of scathing posts on Twitter, heightening the drama surrounding the bill. Notably, some Democrats leapt to Musk's defense, embracing his rejection of the bill, seizing the opportunity to exploit internal Republican disputes despite their ongoing disdain for Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) this year.
Musk went on the attack, targeting both the bill and Trump directly. In his first of several posts, he declared, "I'm sorry, but I just can't stomach it anymore. This gigantic, obnoxious, bloated Congressional spending bill is an abominable disgrace. Those who approved it know they made a terrible mistake."
Fetterman couldn't help but call out the Dems for their unprincipled flip-flopping on Musk. "Look, the Dems have been giving Musk a hard time, trashing Teslas or whatever, but next thing we know, they might be onboard with him again," Fetterman said.
Remember when Fetterman started the Dems' Tesla-bashing train during the early days of Trump's second term, culminating in a string of brutal attacks against Tesla vehicles and dealerships, which the Trump Justice Department deemed as "domestic terrorism"? Can the Dems really change horses mid-stream?
While Fetterman agrees with Musk on the flawed spending bill, he emphasizes that Democrats have to make up their minds. "Not long ago, setting up a Tesla was like the trendy accessory for Dems. I'd never want to wreck a Tesla, and this bloated spending bill is bad news for America. So, in my book, I've been consistent on this one," Fetterman said.
California Representative Ro Khanna was one of the few Democrats to acknowledge the need for Dems and Musk to team up on their shared objective to kill Trump's spending bill. Republican Tim Burchett, meanwhile, added that it's ironic for Democrats to suddenly change their tone on Musk. "A week ago, Democrats were attacking Musk like there was no tomorrow... but now they're making their whole argument around him," Burchett said.
