Tough Talk: Tom Homan Slams Democrats Over Support for Deported MS-13 Alleged Abuser
Democrats under fire for shielding a domestic abuser as new details emerge about deported migrant's violent past, according to Homan.
In a fiery response, Trump's former border czar Tom Homan has unleashed a scathing attack on Democrats for backing Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported gang member accused of domestic abuse.
"Democrats are advocating for the wrong guy," Homan told "America Reports" Thursday, slamming their support for Garcia.
Garcia, a suspected MS-13 member, was deported in 2025 but had previously faced a 2020 protective order filed in Maryland for allegedly beating his wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, and emotionally abusing their children. The order detailed repeated incidents of physical and verbal abuse, including kicking, slapping, shoving, and holding Vasquez Sura captive.
Vasquez Sura also claimed in the filing that she possessed a recording where Garcia allegedly told his ex-mother-in-law, "Even if I kill me, no one can do anything to me." She described a 2019 incident where he allegedly grabbed her by the hair in a car, dragged her, and a subsequent incident where he broke doors, shoved her against a wall, and damaged household items.
Homan slammed Democrats for siding with Garcia over the victims, stating, "They're showing the American people they're supporting a gang member, terrorist, public safety threat, wife beater rather than meeting with the angel moms and dads."
Immigration officials assessed Garcia as a gang member after a 2019 arrest in Maryland for loitering, despite his lawyers claiming he was seeking work. Authorities also pointed to tattoos, gang-related clothing, an arrest alongside a suspected MS-13 member, and information from an informant as evidence of gang ties.
Despite previous admissions that Garcia's deportation was a mistake, the Trump administration continues to defend the decision, citing Garcia's alleged gang connections. According to Homan, Democrats continue to argue that Garcia was wrongfully deported and not a gang member. In April, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court decision ordering the Trump administration to facilitate his return to the U.S.
However, Homan dismissed criticism that Garcia was denied due process, stating that immigration courts had already ruled on the case. He also defended the Trump administration's immigration policies and mass deportation agenda, promising a fight with the courts and Democrats.
"We knew the fight was coming, and we're going to take that fight on," he said.
