Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., looked back on the 2024 election and admits the Democratic Party could have benefited from a primary. In an interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," Klobuchar acknowledged that a primary might have steered them in a different direction after Joe Biden suspended his re-election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris, who ultimately lost to Trump.

"Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. A primary could have given us a different direction. But we've moved on," she shared. "I'm not about dwelling on the past. I'm all about pushing forward and helping American people."

Klobuchar was also asked whether Harris' loss signaled that women can't win presidential elections.

"I sure hope not," she responded. "Women have led numerous powerful nations and excelled as mayors, governors, and senators. It's challenging to run as a woman, but it doesn't mean we can't play to win."

Other names rumored to enter the 2028 Democratic race are Maura Healey, Ro Khanna, Pete Buttigieg, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore. Even though some, like Moore, have publicly declared they won't join the race, speculation remains rife.

Interestingly, Kamala Harris' name continues to be whispered in presidential circles, despite her defeat in the previous election. She has the party's largest donor network and had previously pondered running for president before Biden withdrew from the race[3].

Trade-related matters also grabbed Klobuchar's attention as she voiced her concerns about Trump's tariffs that have negatively affected the American people and economy. She expressed her determination to combat these tariffs and focus on addressing essential issues like healthcare and social security[4].
