In the halls of Congress, a heated dispute between two prominent representatives has been making headlines. On one side, we have Marjorie Taylor Greene, a far-right conservative Republican from Georgia, known for her controversial statements and ties to white nationalism and white supremacist groups. On the other, we have Ilhan Omar, a Democratic representative from Minnesota and a member of the progressive "squad" of representatives.

The dispute between the two representatives has been escalating, with each accusing the other of inappropriate behaviour. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been accused of promoting wild accusations against other representatives, storming out of a congressional hearing, and even having ties to defendants involved in the 6 January 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

Ilhan Omar, on the other hand, has faced accusations of being a "foreign agent," an allegation that has been deemed baseless. There was also a mistranslated clip that suggested she said she is "Somalian first," but independent Somali translators confirmed that she actually said: "We are people who know that they are Somali and Muslim."

The latest round of this ongoing feud began when Democratic lawmaker Jim McGovern accused Marjorie Taylor Greene of speaking at white supremacist conventions and promoting holocaust deniers. Greene responded by bringing up McGovern's alleged habit of leaving his suit jacket on the bathroom floor in the Capitol.

The dispute has also centred around Marjorie Taylor Greene's attempts to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and censure Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar. In response, Omar has faced discrimination and bigotry during her time in office, including being forced out of the foreign affairs committee for her criticism of Israel.

Despite the heated exchanges, Greene has yet to respond to McGovern's latest social media post. Meanwhile, Representative Jamie Raskin continues to call out Greene's persistent support of "domestic terrorists."

In a surprising turn of events, in May 2023, Marjorie Taylor Greene publically stated that being called a "white supremacist" is equivalent to using the N-word. This statement has added fuel to the fire, further intensifying the controversy surrounding Greene's behaviour and beliefs.

As the dispute between Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ilhan Omar continues, it serves as a stark reminder of the polarising political climate in the United States and the importance of holding representatives accountable for their actions and words.
