Demminer Land A Cappella Choir Marks 45 Years with Historic Concert
The a cappella choir Demminer Land celebrated its 45th anniversary with a concert in Beggerow church, delighting its chairwoman Ute Koball and Maria Magdalena Schwaegermann, president of the state choir association, who recalled the choir's founding 45 years ago and its transition in 1989/90.
Four original members who sang at the debut concert in 1980 are still on stage: Angelika Staffeldt, Heidi Richter, Klaus Richter, and Rainer Jaschob. The choir, dedicated to a cappella singing since 2008, presented a literary-musical program titled 'A Resounding Day' centered around daily routines. Church musician Dennis Rose spoke about the choir's history and influence on the district's cultural life. The audience demanded an encore, captivated by the choir's performance, including Uwe Rämisch's interpretation of Udo Jürgens' hit 'But Please with Sugar'. The choir was founded as a club in 1994 and started a joint repertoire with the Klenzer Men's Choir in 2004.
