Demi Vollering medically cleared to carry on with the Tour de France Femmes following a crash
Demi Vollering Overcomes Crash to Continue Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Competition
Demi Vollering, the Dutch cyclist competing in the 2025 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, underwent a series of medical checks and concussion protocols following a significant crash during stage 3. Despite sustaining multiple contusions and experiencing pain in her knee, back, and glutes, Vollering has been cleared to continue racing.
The crash occurred within the final 4km of Monday's stage, inside the 5km safety zone, resulting in the same finishing time as the front group. Vollering was tested for concussion following the incident, but further medical examinations and a second concussion check conducted by her team doctors ruled out the risk of concussion.
Vollering's team, FDJ-Suez, has been monitoring her condition closely, ensuring her well-being during warm-up and throughout the race. The cyclist herself reported feeling okay after the crash, acknowledging a hit to her head but confirming no concussion was diagnosed. She also mentioned a sense of deja vu, as the crash reminded her of a similar incident from the previous year. However, she was fortunate not to lose any time due to the rules.
With the race's first mountains test on Thursday, stage six, in the Massif Central, Vollering feels determined to take part in stage 4, which is expected to finish in a bunch sprint in Poitiers. Despite the setback, she remains focused on her performance and is grateful for the support of her team during her recovery.
