Demi Vollering is facing more evaluations as officials assess her fitness for commencing stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes, with a final decision yet to be announced.

Demi Vollering Battles Through Crash to Remain in Tour de France Femmes Contention

Demi Vollering, a prominent cyclist for the FDJ-Suez team, faced a setback during Stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, but managed to continue racing despite a heavy crash.

Vollering's accident occurred on a right turn as the riders exited a bridge and the road narrowed on the approach to Angers. The incident took place with 3.6 kilometers to go, but she was fortunate to avoid any serious injuries.

Upon the crash, Vollering was examined by the team doctor and underwent an initial assessment for a suspected concussion. However, further tests, including a second concussion protocol, revealed no concussion risk. She was left with multiple contusions but no concussion, and was able to continue racing.

Vollering's teammates, Évita Muzic and Juliette Labous, were also involved in the crash but managed to finish the race. Vollering, with the support of her teammates, completed the race between Amber Kraak and Juliette Labous.

The crash did not affect Vollering's position in the overall standings, as she remains at 21 seconds behind race leader Marianne Vos. FDJ-SUEZ's team manager, Delcourt, emphasized the importance of Vollering's health over the team's GC ambitions.

Delcourt also expressed concern over the loss of respect in cycling, mentioning instances of teams trying to get to the front and cutting the line. He acknowledged that it's too early to determine the impact of Vollering's crash on the team's GC ambitions and will decide tomorrow.

Following the crash, Vollering's injuries were mainly bruises and contusions, with no concussion or hospital-level severity. She was described as recovering well and being on the right path. No serious or lasting injuries were reported, and she was able to keep racing in the demanding multi-stage event.

The results of these tests will determine if Vollering will participate in stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The team has invested heavily in preparing for the Tour de France, and Vollering has worked hard for it as well. With a positive prognosis for her recovery, it seems she will continue to push forward in the race.
