Demand for Capital Punishment in Honeymoon Murder Case: Father of Slain Businessman Calls for Execution of All Perpetrators
In a heartrending plea, the father of Raja Raghuvanshi, the businessman tragically murdered during his honeymoon, has demanded death sentences for all those responsible. The shocking crime, allegedly orchestrated by his newlywed wife Sonam, has led to the detention of four suspects, with further arrests still pending.
Following the gruesome discovery of Raja's body in a gorge in Meghalaya, Sonam surrendered to authorities in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh late last Sunday. The four accused, including the suspected mastermind, Raja Kushwaha, were apprehended in various regions across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh [2].
"My son died a horrible death. I want justice, and for all the criminals to face capital punishment, to serve as a warning to others," an emotionally distraught Ashok Raghuvanshi shared with PTI. The tragedy has hit the father hard, considering the details that have surfaced during the investigation.
Overwhelmed by grief and the disturbing revelations, Raghuvanshi expressed disbelief as he prepared to receive his son's remains at their Indore home. "My son's body was mutilated. My family pleaded with me not to have one last look, out of fear for my heart condition," he shared, battling tears.
Raghuvanshi has claimed that Sonam orchestrated the murder to erase a supposed 'Mangal Dosh' in her horoscope, allowing her to later marry her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, who worked in the furniture sheet business of Sonam's family in Indore [3]. Local astrologer Dheeraj Dixit called these claims baseless, explaining that 'Mangal Dosh' cannot be removed by a spouse's death.
The initial response from Raja Raghuvanshi's family was one of accusations towards the Meghalaya Police, claiming negligence in the timeliness of the investigations. However, subsequent events led the family to reconsider their stance.
Police apprehended Akash, a key suspect, in Uttar Pradesh, while Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand Kurmi were arrested in Indore and Sagar [1].
Vipin Raghuvanshi, Raja's elder brother, has expressed his regret for past statements made against the Meghalaya government. "We were wrong to question their efforts. The police were conducting secret operations to apprehend the suspects, and we truly appreciate their persistence and quick response," he shared [2].
As the investigation unfolds, the Meghalaya Police are working tirelessly to bring all involved parties to justice for this brutal crime. Autopsy results reveal that Raja was struck twice in the head with a sharp object, while key evidence, such as a bloodstained machete and a couple's raincoat, have been recovered [1]. The case continues to capture the public's attention and spark widespread outrage.
