Delve into the world of timeless JRPG, LIVE A LIVE, a captivating game that spans various eras and stories.
In the world of Japanese role-playing games (JRPGs), Square Enix has announced the release of LIVE A LIVE, a game that promises an immersive and unique experience. This title, developed by the renowned company, features the work of industry veterans Takashi Tokita and Yoko Shimomura.
Tokita, known for his contributions to CHRONO TRIGGER and FINAL FANTASY IV, has taken the helm for LIVE A LIVE. Shimomura, acclaimed for her work on FINAL FANTASY XV and the KINGDOM HEARTS series, has also contributed to the game's music.
The game offers a blend of 3D environments and modern effects with pixel art, creating an HD-2D visual style that is both nostalgic and modern. LIVE A LIVE contains elements of Blood, Crude Humor, Fantasy Violence, Language, and Suggestive Themes, making it suitable for mature audiences.
The battle system in LIVE A LIVE is grid-based and shared by all characters, but each character uses it differently based on their objective. Players can try out this system in a free demo, which features three chapters: Imperial China, Twilight of Edo Japan, and The Distant Future.
Progress made in the demo can be carried over to the full version of the game if it is purchased. Each story in LIVE A LIVE features rearranged versions of its soundtrack, created by the original composer, Yoko Shimomura.
The game allows players to explore a series of tales stretching throughout time and find the truth behind their shared history. Players can jump in and out of each story at their leisure, and each character lives in a different time period with their own distinct gameplay and story.
At the start of the game, players have the option to choose between seven different characters. The stories in LIVE A LIVE include The Wild West, Twilight of Edo Japan, Present Day, The Near Future, The Distant Future, Imperial China, and Prehistory.
In the Imperial China chapter, players will encounter battles and level up. In the Twilight of Edo Japan chapter, players can choose to fight or use their shinobi skills to veil themselves in shadows during battles. If a player is unsatisfied with their progress in a story, they can restart the story from the beginning.
One of the game's standout features is the ability to pause and resume any story at any time. Players can also save their progress in a story and return to it later through the "Return to Chapter Select" option.
The development company behind LIVE A LIVE is Square Enix, a well-known name in the JRPG genre. With the combined talents of Tokita and Shimomura, LIVE A LIVE promises to be a must-play for fans of the genre.
