Delta Airlines grapples with system failure causing mass flight delays
Delta Airlines is facing widespread delays after a technical fault disrupted its check-in and boarding systems. The issue has slowed down kiosks and forced staff to process passengers manually. So far, no flights have been cancelled, but over a third of Delta's services are running late.
The problem was first reported by aviation tracker @xjonnyc. Since then, Delta teams have been working to fix the glitch while putting temporary measures in place. These workarounds aim to keep flights operating, though with delays.
As of today, around 32% of Delta's mainline and regional flights are behind schedule. This includes nearly 1,100 mainline services and an additional 236 operated by regional partner Endeavor. The slowdown comes just weeks after a major outage on 19 July, which affected over a million passengers globally.
Delta has confirmed that engineers are prioritising a full resolution. Until then, travellers should expect longer wait times at airports and possible adjustments to boarding procedures.
The airline continues to monitor the situation closely. Passengers are advised to check for updates before heading to the airport. Delays are expected to persist until the technical issue is fully resolved.
