Delta Air Lines to Debut Exclusive Boston Delta One Lounge featuring distinctive culinary offerings
Delta Air Lines is enhancing its premium offerings at Boston Logan International Airport with the opening of a third business-class-only lounge. This new addition, located within the Delta Sky Club on Concourse E, promises to elevate the travel experience for eligible passengers.
The Delta One lounge, as it will be known, adopts a 'lounge within a lounge' concept, offering a more intimate setting with a strong emphasis on locally inspired, made-to-order cuisine. The culinary experience takes centre stage in this lounge, with a fine dining atmosphere that pays homage to Boston's maritime heritage.
The lounge spans 6,700 square feet, offering a spacious environment for guests. The menu, crafted by chef Ed Brown, leans towards seafood, but there are plenty of other options available as well. The lounge is designed to offer a three-course meal in as little as an hour, allowing passengers to go right to sleep once their flight departs.
The bar area boasts a wide variety of spirits, including 10 types of scotch and whisky, and bartenders who can make pretty much anything alongside listed cocktail specials. Premium wines and spirits are available for an additional charge, while standard drinks are complimentary.
The lounge's dining room emphasizes a sit-down, elevated dining experience, with a long list of complimentary drinks available, all of which are generally a step up from the included beverages at the Sky Club. Access to the lounge is limited to business class passengers with the airline or its alliance partners, plus invitation-only top-tier status holders.
The back part of the Sky Club will be converted into a "living room" exclusively for Delta One passengers. However, the lounge prioritizes dining over other amenities, with limited exclusive features beyond the restaurant and bar. Some facilities like showers will be shared with the adjacent main lounge.
It's worth noting that the menu will likely rotate a few times a year, and dishes can be modified to a degree, since everything is made to order. The lounge, while smaller in size compared to the main lounge, seats 121 passengers at a time.
Most of the long-haul flights from Boston are short red-eyes across the Atlantic, only seven or eight hours long, so passengers generally prefer to eat before the flight. Therefore, the lounge's menu is geared for dinner, as it opens later in the day than the Sky Club.
Delta often updates its amenities, including snacks and meals, to enhance the premium experience. The lounge provides a sophisticated atmosphere with a focus on local culinary themes and upscale amenities tailored for premium travelers.
