Delmenhorster Christmas House Shines Again - Delmenhorst’s Christmas House glows again after a year of darkness

A festive tradition has returned to Delmenhorst as Sven Borchart (55) switched on the 60,000 lights of his famous Christmas House. The annual display, which began in 2000, honours the memory of his late wife, Martina. This year, hundreds gathered to watch the dazzling illumination after it was cancelled in 2023 due to Sven’s health issues.

Sven and his stepson started setting up the decorations in early November. The display includes a nativity scene, life-sized deer, glowing arches, and a Christmas pyramid. Last year, the event was called off because Sven needed a knee replacement, leaving the house dark for the first time in decades.

The Christmas House will remain lit nightly for over a month. Sven’s recovery allowed him to revive the display, ensuring the tradition carries on. Donations from the St. Nicholas Day event will directly benefit the therapeutic riding programme.
