Mustafizur Rahman Joins Delhi Capitals for Remainder of 2025 IPL
Delhi Capitals Sign Left-Arm Pacer as Fraser-McGurk's Replacement in IPL 2025
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) gearing up for a comeback, the Delhi Capitals have shaken things up by signing Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman. Jersey number 11 steps in to replace Jake Fraser-McGurk, who's temporarily waved goodbye to the competition due to personal reasons.
In an official statement, the Axar Patel-led Delhi franchise welcomed the left-arm speed demon back to the team, having represented them in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
While uncertainty looms over the availability of Australian players ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Fraser-McGurk, who isn't part of the Test squad, has chosen to sit out the rest of the IPL.

Reports suggest the Capitals dug deep to secure Mustafizur's services for a hefty Rs 6 crore[1]. However, he will only remain with the team for the duration of the 2025 season. According to new IPL rules, Mustafizur, being a temporary replacement, won't be eligible for retention for the 2026 season[2][3].
The addition of another left-arm pacer has sparked rumors about the potential return of Mitchell Starc, with questions about his comeback to the squad.
Mustafizur Rahman boasts a rich IPL history, with 61 wickets under his belt across five teams - Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK)[4]. His most notable performance came in 2016 with SRH, where he captured 17 wickets in 16 matches and showed an incredible economy rate of 6.90.

Unfortunately for the Delhi Capitals, Jake Fraser-McGurk has failed to replicate his past successes this season. In six appearances, he could only manage 55 runs. With his removal from the playing XI for the last six matches, including the abandoned fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS), his time with the Capitals could be drawing to a close.
