Delhi Budget to Solicit Advice from Every Social Sector, Announces Chief Minister Rekha Gupta
Delhi's 'Viksit Delhi' Budget Emphasizes Innovation and Sustainability
In a series of recent events, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the presentation of the Budget for 'Viksit Delhi', a drive aimed at transforming the city into a global innovation hub by 2035. The Budget presentation is scheduled to take place in the Delhi Assembly between March 24 and 26.
The 'Viksit Delhi' Budget focuses on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, with the Delhi Startup Policy 2025 serving as its cornerstone. This policy includes a Rs 200 crore Venture Capital Fund, designed to support 5,000 startups over the next decade. The fund will provide financial backing, including equity and structured debts, and will crowdsource additional private investments through co-investment partnerships.
The policy is structured to promote innovation across 18 strategic sectors, including healthcare services, fintech, artificial intelligence and machine learning, green technology, biotechnology, robotics and automation, e-waste management, and emerging energy solutions such as hydrogen technology. The goal is to nurture new entrepreneurs and facilitate the establishment of startups, thereby positioning Delhi as the prime destination for innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
However, specific details about the extent of the decline in the birth rate or the joint winter action plan to combat air pollution, both recent events in Delhi, were not provided in the article.
Meanwhile, the city has been experiencing various weather patterns. According to IMD data, Delhi witnessed 15 consecutive days of rain in August. The joint winter action plan on air pollution, a collaboration between the Delhi government and 33 departments, is aimed at tackling air pollution in Delhi during the colder months.
Rekha Gupta's government also aims to take suggestions from all sections of society during the Budget presentation, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and participatory governance.
