Delegation Led by Kanimozhi Honors Mahatma Gandhi in Spain

Madrid, Spain, June 1 (AlterEgo): A multi-party delegation, spearheaded by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, made a stopover in Madrid as part of the Modi government's grand diplomatic push post Operation Sindoor. The delegation, which included representatives from various political parties, left no stone unturned in expressing their solidarity towards India's fight against terrorism.

During their visit, the delegates paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's statue and engaged with the local Indian community. Kaushal, a member of the Indian diaspora, commended the delegation, stating, "These folks are carrying an essential message that showcases our collective efforts against terrorism, and it's fantastic that they are here."

The diaspora's members were filled with pride for the Operation Sindoor, an Indian initiative to counter terrorism. Anusuya, another diaspora representative, expressed her views, "We are incredibly proud to see our nation standing firm against terrorism, thanks to Operation Sindoor."

The diplomatic outreach after Operation Sindoor sees India's government forming seven multi-party delegations to share India's stand against Pakistan's support of terrorism and its unwavering commitment to zero tolerance towards terrorism in all forms and aspects.

Speaking in Madrid, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal underscored the purpose of the visit, "We are personally meeting with the Indian diaspora here to understand their sentiments and apprise them of the government's stance. We hope to spread awareness about India's stand on terrorism through these meetings."

The delegation is scheduled to meet local government officials, policy think tanks, and Spanish parliamentarians during their visit. In addition to political leaders, former envoys Manjeev S Puri and Jawed Ashraf are also part of the group.

Notably, Operation Sindoor was initiated as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists, resulting in the death of 26 individuals. The Indian Armed Forces then targeted the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists affiliated with outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

The seven delegations are touring countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Algeria, the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, Denmark, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Singapore, the UAE, Liberia, Congo, Sierra Leone, the US, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Russia, Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa to brief foreign partners on India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack and the broader fight against cross-border terrorism [1][2][4][5].
