G'day, mates! Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the state governors have decided to push back their Thursday meetup. According to the spokesman for the current hosting state, Saxony, Ralph Schreiber, the Minister Presidents' Conference will go on as usual on Thursday - but just between the states themselves. The new date for the much-needed face-off with ol' Friedrich and the Federal Government is yet to be confirmed.

But, buckle up folks, as the state heads' scheduled dinner with the Chancellor on Wednesday evening will keep its date before Merz heads to Washington for his stateside trip early Thursday morning. Initially, Federal Chancellery Minster Thorsten Frei was expected to represent Merz at the powwow, but due to the sudden visit, the Saxony Minister President, Michael Kretschmer (CDU), and Lower Saxony's head honcho, Olaf Lies (SPD), have ironed out the details for a postponement with the Federal Chancellery.
