Disclosure Suspends Release of New Track Over Copyright Controversy
Following an online uproar over apparent unauthorized use of Dur-Dur Band's 'Dooyo' track, electronic music duo Disclosure has postponed the release of their upcoming piece. The band opted to engage directly with their fanbase on Discord, brands of their involvement in the sample clearance process as baseless.
According to the duo, they Clear all legal hurdles prior to releasing the sample. Composers Abdinur Daljir and Sahra Dawo, creators of 'Dooyo', confirmed their authorship and approved the use. Disclosure signed a licensing agreement, paid the required fee, and set up royalties tied to future plays of the track.
Despite this, Disclosure later discovered that Dur-Dur Band International, the touring company handling the original band's materials, was not part of the clearance process. In response, the duo reached out to Dur-Dur Band International to foster transparency and address potential concerns.
Action was taken to halt the track's release before any income stream was generated from it. The duo affirmed that they would not proceed with the release if the sample clearance was not handled properly. They also promised to rename the track 'Dooyo' and credit Dur-Dur Band as a feature artist on all platforms.

They emphasized their commitment to handling the matter tactfully and ensuring that the original creators are appropriately recognized and credited. The duo highlighted their intentions of promoting the original work to new listeners while respecting the intellectual property rights of the creators.
