The renovation of Terminal A at Tegel Airport in Berlin, initially planned for completion by 2027, has faced delays and increased costs. According to the construction administration's report and documents from the Senate Administration for the House of Representatives, the project is now estimated to be completed in 2035.

The original budget for the renovation was 450 million euros, but it has since increased to approximately 833 million euros. The delay and the increased cost are attributed to rising construction costs.

The demolition work and hazardous material removal at Terminal A are expected to be completed by early 2026. However, the main renovation measures will only begin after the completion of the advanced measures.

The documents from the Senate Administration for the House of Representatives also show the planned move of parts of the Berlin University of Technology into the old airport terminal. The original plan was for the university to move into the terminal by 2027.

The significant financing for the renovation of Terminal A will primarily occur after 2030. Only small amounts are budgeted for 2026 to 2029, with 4 million euros planned for 2026, 15 million in 2027, 20 million in 2028, and 40 million in 2029.

The "Tagesspiegel" newspaper has reported on both the delay and increased cost of the Terminal A renovation at Tegel Airport, as well as the planned move of parts of the Berlin University of Technology into the old terminal. The newspaper attributes the delay to a lack of funds.

Despite the delays, the renovation of Terminal A at Tegel Airport is still scheduled to be completed in 2035. The move of parts of the Berlin University of Technology into the old terminal remains on track.
