Delay in Cardinals-Reds Game: Latest Information on Restart Time
The St. Louis Cardinals are making a play for their initial road series win this season, squaring off against the Cincinnati Reds today. Following their doubleheader domination on Wednesday, the team's eager for a win, but Mother Nature's once again getting in the way. After a rain-induced postponement on Tuesday, the Cardinals-Reds match is now delayed in the fourth inning's bottom frame.
Get the popcorn ready, though – it looks like the game's set to get back underway around 2:15 p.m. CDT/3:15 p.m. EST, assuming the weather cooperates. The Reds are currently in the lead with a score of 2-1.
Catcher Jose Trevino powered the Reds to a two-run lead over rookie Matthew Liberatore in the second, but the Cardinals' ace has since locked things down. Nolan Arenado pulled one back for the Cardinals with a knock to center, scoring Brendan Donovan from first after Elly De La Cruz mishandled the ball.
Speaking of A-Rod, if you missed Wednesday's doubleheader, the Cardinals' offense went off. Cardinals' manager Oliver Marmol shuffled things up, placing rising star Masyn Winn in the two-hole and dropping Willson Contreras to the fifth. The moves ignited the offense, as the Cardinals scored a combined 15 runs over the two games and slugged six homers!
The Cardinals have been struggling away from home this year. Splitting this series against the Reds would be a step in the right direction, but they'd obviously prefer a sweep. With a record of 14-17, the Cardinals can't afford to slip up like they have in previous years in May.
Keep your fingers crossed as the rain delay continues – we'll keep you posted on any updates!

[1] Steven Liberatore, the Cardinals' ace pitcher, was hoping to secure a win for his team during their delayed match against the Cincinnati Reds at 2:15 p.m. CDT/3:15 p.m. EST, as they attempt to earn their first road series win of the season.
[2] In the second inning, José Trevino led the Reds to a 2-0 lead over rookie Matthew Liberatore, but the Cardinals' offense had other plans. Nolan Arenado scored Brendan Donovan from first base with a hit to center, bringing the score to 2-1.
[3] If history repeats itself, the Cardinals could be in for a high-scoring game, as they displayed an impressive offensive performance during their doubleheader on Wednesday. Slugging six homers and scoring a combined 15 runs, Steven Marmol's offensive shuffle – placing Masyn Winn in the second slot and dropping Willson Contreras to fifth – seemed to be the right call.
[4] However, the Cardinals have been struggling away from home this season, currently holding a record of 14-17. Splitting this series against the Reds would be a step in the right direction, but a sweep would be even better. The team can't afford to slip up like they have in previous May matches.
