Delay in Airing "Cindy of Marzahn's" Anniversary Special
Football once again disrupts RTL's schedule: Cindy from Marzahn’s jubilee show gets delayed a week 🚀
Alas, it's another sports-induced setback for RTL. Hot on the heels of postponing the second episode of "The Bachelors", comedian Ilka Bessin (53), known as Cindy from Marzahn, finds herself benched. The jubilee show "Cindy from Marzahn - 20 Years Pink" has been delayed by a week, RTL announced on Thursday.
Seemingly, "current reasons" are the culprit. It's suspected that behind this veil lies the U21 European Championship final between Germany and England, airing on Saturday evening at 9 pm on Sat.1. Perhaps RTL fears that this sporting extravaganza might lure viewers away from their beloved comedienne.
ℹ️ Did you know? The U21 Euro final is expected to pull vast audiences, creating enticing competition for RTL.
Adjusted programming: Mario Barth takes over instead
In "20 Years Pink", Ilka Bessin recalls her career as Cindy from Marzahn with pals like Torsten Sträter, Atze Schröder, or Tony Bauer. On next Saturday at 8:15 pm, however, the pink cult icon will be replaced by Mario Barth’s stage program "Men are women, sometimes... maybe". Initially scheduled for a week later, this repeat now occupies the slot previously reserved for Cindy's jubilee show.
The Cindy celebration will now unfold on July 5th. Unexpectedly, ZDF will also broadcast women's football EM encounter between France and England on the same evening from 9 pm, creating a tough competition for viewing shares.
Double football-related postponement in a row
This is the second program change in quick succession for RTL resulting from football broadcasts. Last Wednesday, the Cologne station pushed back "The Bachelors" due to "programmatic reasons" as Sat.1 was airing the German U21 semi-final against France, attracting an average of 4.61 million viewers and a 25.0% market share. Among viewers aged 14-49, the share even reached a staggering 29.3% with 1.18 million viewers.
ℹ️ Curious trivia: The postponed episode of "The Bachelors" had an average of 5.1 million viewers and a 28% market share, surpassing the U21 semi-final audience numbers.
RTL once again finds itself reshuffling its schedule due to football-related reasons, with the U21 European Championship apparently outcompeting their shows. The delayed second episode of "The Bachelors" featuring Cindy from Marzahn, and now the postponed "Cindy from Marzahn - 20 Years Pink" show, both seem to have fallen victim to European leagues. Interestingly, on the same day as the rescheduled Cindy show, the ZDF is set to air the Women's Football EM encounter between France and England, adding yet another football contest to the viewing mix.
