Crime News from Delaware

Delaware courts have recently made several arrests and indictments in high-profile homicide cases that have shaken communities across the state.

Gordon Turner, a 22-year-old from New Castle, is under arrest for a horrific incident in April, where he allegedly stole a U-Haul van and slammed into eight University of Delaware students on Main Street in Newark, killing graduate student Marina Vasconcelos and critically injuring fellow student Audrey Collins. Turner now faces multiple charges, including first- and second-degree murder, multiple assault charges, vehicle theft, marijuana possession, and illegal firearm possession. He is currently held on $2 million bail.

Attorney General Kathy Jennings emphasized that this tragedy was preventable and warned that fleeing from the police can only endanger others and the offender.

Jennings also shared that four men have been charged with the murder of Carrie Mondell, a 37-year-old WSFS bank executive, who was caught in a crossfire of bullets fired by suspected gang members in Wilmington on August 16, 2022. This case adds to a gang indictment that previously included the murders of Latahesia Hill, Khalil Ameer-Bey, and Kwamir Wise. The defendants, Neiamjha Rollins, Nyair Small, Philip Harris, and Daeshawn Shields, were indicted on various charges, with all defendants, except Rollins, facing first-degree murder charges for Mondell's death. Jennings alleges that the four men were members of the Wilmington-area gang "Exit 4," also known as "The Mag" or "Magboyz."
