Ryan Moore Previews Exciting First Day of Ebor Festival

Ryan Moore, one of the world's most accomplished jockeys, has three big-race rides on the opening day of the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse.

In the Juddmonte International Stakes (3.35), Moore will be aboard Delacroix, a horse that impressed with an extraordinary turn of foot to win the Group 1 Eclipse at Sandown last month. Moore believes York will suit Delacroix well, and his performance in the Eclipse suggests he could take plenty of beating today.

Ombudsman, a good winner at Royal Ascot, reopposes in the Juddmonte International Stakes and will provide stiff competition for Delacroix. Moore considers Ombudsman a tough horse to beat, but he believes Delacroix has the potential to outshine him.

See The Fire is another threat in the Juddmonte International Stakes, having run well at York before. Meanwhile, Danon Decile, a Japanese Derby winner, is also a contender in the race, with York on quick ground over ten furlongs seeming ideal for the horse.

In the Acomb Stakes (2.25), Moore will ride Italy, a colt trained by Wootton Bassett. Italy won impressively on debut and has a big form chance in the race. Distant Storm, a Godolphin horse, won a maiden that has worked out well and is considered the main danger for Italy.

Italy was beaten at Newmarket but Moore does not consider that piece of form significant. Moore believes Italy will bounce back and put in a strong performance in the Acomb Stakes.

Lambourn, a horse returning after a break, will run in the Great Voltigeur Stakes (3.00). Lambourn won the Derby at Epsom and the Irish Derby at the Curragh, and a more testing 1m4f (or further) would seem ideal for the horse. However, Moore believes Lambourn has a good chance on form, regardless of the distance.

Carmers, who won the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, is unbeaten in three starts and will line up in the Great Voltigeur Stakes. Moore considers Carmers a strong contender in the race, and it will be interesting to see how he fares against Lambourn.

The first day of the Ebor Festival promises to be an exciting one, with many top-class horses set to compete. With Ryan Moore riding some of the favourites, racing fans can expect a thrilling day of action.
