In a closely contested match, the Düsseldorfer EG faced the Grizzlys Wolfsburg and unfortunately came up short, losing 5-2.

The game began with a pacey start, as both teams created chances in the opening period. The DEG managed to take the lead early on, with Justin Richards scoring from the left face-off circle with a wrist shot. However, Wolfsburg equalised shortly after through Luis Schinko.

The DEG had a power play opportunity but failed to convert it into another goal, and Wolfsburg capitalised on this, scoring a power play goal themselves, increasing their lead to 3-1, courtesy of Fabian Pfohl's goal at 39 minutes and 59 seconds.

The second period saw Wolfsburg continue to dominate, with the DEG struggling to respond effectively. Ryan O'Connor and Phil Varone combined for a goal, making it 2-3 for Wolfsburg. But just five minutes later, Schinko scored his second goal of the game, extending Wolfsburg's lead to 4-2. Nicholas Caamano then added another goal for Wolfsburg, making it 5-1.

The DEG had a relatively quiet final period, with few dangerous chances, while Wolfsburg continued to hold their ground. The DEG's goalkeeper, Henrik Haukeland, was missing due to various reasons, with Nikita Quapp starting in goal and Sean Kuklok on standby.

Justin Richards and Tyler Gaudet returned to the ice for the DEG, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide of the game. Philip Gogulla scored a backhand goal for Wolfsburg, making it 5-2 at 54 minutes and 38 seconds.

The DEG's next game is on Monday in Iserlohn at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the DEG's home games can be purchased at www.degtickets.de. The DEG's next home game is against ERC Ingolstadt on Thursday, January 2, at 7:30 pm.

Alex Blank of the Düsseldorf EG was given a penalty for a stick infraction during the game. The DEG is missing four players, including Haukeland, due to various reasons.
