Headline: Leaders of National Defence Committees Gather in Estonia for Annual Security Forum

The annual security forum is set to take place in Tallinn, Estonia, on Thursday, 8th May, in the Conference Hall of the Riigikogu. This year's discussions will focus on collective defense, increasing defense spending, regional defense cooperation, and the implications of Russia's ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine for international security architecture.

Representatives from the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden), Germany, and Poland will participate in the forum. Notable attendees include the Chair of the National Defence Committee of the Netherlands, who will attend as an observer.

Lieutenant General Bertrand Toujouse, Commander of French Forces Europe/Commander French LANDCOM, is visiting Estonia and will participate in the forum as a special guest. Representatives of Germany and France will also take part in the event.

The leaders of the National Defence Committees will discuss the priorities and challenges of defense and security policy more broadly. As part of their visit, they will also tour Ämari Airbase, where one of NATO's Baltic Air Policing aviation units is stationed. A visit to the airbase is scheduled for Friday.

These annual working meetings with the National Defence Committees of the Baltic States have been taking place since 1998. From 2011, the representatives of the National Defence Committees of the Nordic Countries, Germany, and Poland have also been participating in these meetings.

The forum in Tallinn is expected to provide a platform for open and constructive discussions on the current security challenges and the future of defense cooperation in the region.
