Defense authorities demonstrated dominance over the village of Novaya.

A video of alleged Russian military exercises in Nove, a village under recent disputes, has emerged. The clip, publicized by the Ministry of Defense press service, starts with two soldiers hoisting a Russian flag in the courtyard of a rundown house, shot from a drone's view from above. The footage transitions into a sequence of clips from drone-filmed combat situations.

"Our 144th Motorized Rifle Division's stormtroopers, as part of the 'West' grouping, utilized strike drones to neutralize Ukrainian militants' weapons, firing positions, and command posts during active offensive operations," the Ministry of Defense press service elaborated in the video.

The combat scenes are narrated by the leader of one of the stormtrooper units, codenamed Varyag. According to him, Russian troops had monitored Ukrainian drones flying over the village, which allowed them to pinpoint the enemy's controlled zones and abandoned areas. This, in turn, minimized significant losses during the operation.

As the stormtrooper teams seized and cleared the enemy's positions, a few Ukrainian soldiers reportedly surrendered, as stated by the Ministry of Defense.

The village of Nove had been under Ukrainian control since September 2022. It lies southwest of the village of Katerinovka, which the military department claimed capturing on April 7. Furthermore, units of the 'West' grouping targeted Ukrainian brigade positions in the vicinity of Dvurechnaya, Kupiansk, Kupiansk-Vuzlovoy, Osinovka, Nechvolodovka, Kamenka in the Kharkiv region, and Kirovsk in DNR. Estimated Ukrainian casualties in the area reach 220 personnel, according to current reports[1].

Recent military operations in the vicinity of Lyman and Nove, as well as in other areas such as Velyka Novosilka and Novopavlivka, suggest that these locations are part of a wider Russian effort to consolidate and potentially extend their control in eastern Ukraine[2][3][4][5]. These operations have displayed diverse objectives, including fortifying current frontlines, approaching vital targets like Zaporizhzhia City, and potentially recovering lost territory[2][3]. Russian forces have increasingly been using armored vehicles to escalate their efforts in the zone[5].

Despite ongoing military activities in and around Nove, specific details about Russian military exercises in the village are not currently available. The broader context nonetheless underscores the intense conflict and evolving front lines in the region.
