Police were summoned to the apartment due to the overflowing mailbox and a lingering odor of decay. Upon search, they discovered the defendant's deceased mother's body in the apartment, presumably passing away several weeks prior.
In the aftermath of the explosion, a total of 35 individuals sustained injuries, with the majority treated for suspected smoke inhalation. The public prosecutor's office declared that eight of the nine victims could potentially bear permanent injuries.
