Decreased Monthly Rainfall Recorded in Sochi

Sochi, Russia, has been smacked by a torrential downpour - gathering in the past day, the city has experienced more rainfall than usual for an entire month. The rain persists, with utility and emergency services working tirelessly to manage the aftermath of the storm.

According to the resort administration, primary tasks have been accomplished on Gortop, where the storm drain has been cleared. Simultaneously, there's ongoing restoration work at the Vinogradnaya-Donskaya interchange and the Mamayka district. Workers are also busy on the A-147 highway, clearing fallen trees and minor landslides; 12 workers and three vehicles are deployed for the operation.

"The lion's share of the consequences from fallen trees and small landslides has been addressed. At present, there's no further flooding reported in the roads or territories. However, our services remain on high alert, coordinating their actions through the operational headquarters," said Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin.

Meteorologists cautioned that turbulent seas of 1.8 meters high with wave strengths of 4 points are expected along the coast tonight and tomorrow morning. Due to watery conditions, all beaches have been temporarily off-limits for swimming. Residents and tourists are urged to be cautious, stay away from the coast, and refrain from parking under trees.

A friendly reminder that the Ir River inundated the Batumi Highway in Sochi.

Stay tuned to local news and weather reports for updates on potential further flooding, road conditions, and beach closures. For detailed information, follow official announcements from the city or regional authorities and trusted news sources.
