Gasoline prices in Germany continue to plummet, defying the recent trend of slightly increasing Brent crude oil prices. As of recent reports, a liter of Super E10 now costs an astounding 1.698 euros, marking a 1.7 cent decrease from the previous week. In contrast, diesel sees a 1.3 cent decrease, leaving it at 1.577 euros per liter.

This notable improvement in fuel prices is somewhat puzzling given the minute Brent crude oil price hike to around 79 dollars per barrel, as reported by ADAC.

ADAC, a renowned automobile organization, suggests that savvy drivers should top up their gas tanks either between 19:00 and 20:00 or 21:00 and 22:00. At these favorable hours, fuel prices plummet, reaching as low as six to seven cents less compared to the early morning price of 7:00.

Germany's fuel prices are declining more rapidly than the recent increment in Brent crude oil prices, making this region an exceptional location for drivers to save on fuel expenditures during designated hours.

Further Insights:

While various factors contribute to the disparity between Brent crude oil and German fuel prices, local market dynamics, regional refinery issues, and consumer behavior play a significant role.

For instance, southern Germany boasts abundant fuel supply and relatively low demand, allowing suppliers to set discounts of approximately €2.20/100l lower than the national average. Furthermore, technical difficulties at major refineries like Vohburg-Neustadt and Karlsruhe have limited production, but the local market's slow demand aids suppliers in maintaining lower prices than the national average.

In addition, consumers in southern Germany have shown cautious fuel-buying behavior, anticipating price drops. Combined with a drop in temperatures following a relatively mild January, this has led to heightened demand for heating oil, which has further influenced the regional fuel market.
