In the district of Heidekreis, a potentially dangerous intersection has been a cause for concern. The intersection of county roads 5 and 39, also known as the Seebohm Ring, has been identified as an accident hotspot.

Recent reports reveal that the non-observance of right of way and high-speed traffic are recognised as contributing factors to accidents at this intersection. The police press spokesman, Tarek Gibbah, confirmed that the intersection meets the criteria for an accident blackspot due to serious accidents, particularly on Pfingstsaturday.

Despite these concerns, the district administration has yet to address the issue on their agenda. Mayor Dr. Jens Bülthuis has reportedly not received any reaction from the district regarding traffic safety measures at the intersection.

However, a resolution for traffic safety measures was unanimously passed by politics, administration, and the traffic safety association of Munster-Bispingen around five months ago. The resolution, which includes the installation of rumble strips, the addition of stop signs, and the long-term construction of a roundabout, was delivered to District Administrator Jens Grote by Mayor Dr. Jens Bülthuis.

The coordination of the implementation of these traffic safety improvement measures at the intersection is not explicitly stated in the available sources. Typically, such coordination is managed by the Landkreis Heidekreis administration or a relevant public safety or traffic management department within the district.

Meanwhile, local resident Jan-Ole Wittbrodt, a member of the SPD faction and the traffic committee on the district level, has been advocating for more traffic safety at the intersection. He believes that these measures, if implemented, could significantly reduce the risk of accidents at the intersection.

In an effort to keep the community informed, a newsletter titled "Your free weekly review!" offers selected articles from Heidekreis, delivered to your mailbox without information overload. Subscribing to this newsletter keeps you updated on local highlights without the need for long searches. Warning signs with a symbolic black cross are also still appealing for local drivers approaching the intersection.

Despite the district's inaction, the accident commission decided to renew the markings in the intersection area on September 4. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to address the safety concerns at the intersection of county roads 5 and 39.

A local hunter, who has a hunting ground near the intersection, recently had to brake hard to avoid a collision due to another car rushing past at high speed on K 5. This incident underscores the urgency of addressing the safety concerns at this intersection.

As the community awaits action from the district, subscribing to the newsletter and staying vigilant on the roads could help keep everyone safer.
