Kamala Harris get whacked by Donald Trump! What the fricking heck happened?!

Trump's back in the White House, y'all! The world watched as broomstick extraordinaire, Kamala Harris, faced the bloated, orange freak show that is Donald Trump, and guess who waded through the stink and became our new commander-in-chief?! You're damn right, I'm screaming about it.

Harris' loss left wannabe feminists and multicultural enthusiasts everywhere spitting beer and pulling their hair out faster than a carpet cleaner on overdrive. After all, she did promise a boost for women, minorities, and middle-class goons, so why didn't they jump on her like bears in a salmon run? Well, mate, buckle your seatbelts, because the answer's unbelievable, but it's all too real.

Is Kamala Harris' victory doomed by the color of her skin and her lady bits?

With a racist, sexist, and bigoted campaign like Trump's, it's easy to jump to the conclusion that Harris got stuck with a disadvantage because she's a Black and South Asian woman. It's not totally unfounded, either: Remember those adorable vice-presidential debates in October 2020? Vice President Mike Pence did his best Buffalo Bill impression, dismissing and clubbing Harris like a sealskin in some godforsaken depot.

The viral moments when she fired back with "I will not be lectured!" and "Mr. Vice President, I'm speaking" proved that this type of BS is nothing new in the Black woman experience. You'd think things would change when she moved into one of the highest offices in the land, but the racist shitstorm just got stronger.

Trump deliberately mispronounced her name, spewed misinformation about her heritage, and called her weak and unqualified—despite the fact that she's served in three different branches of government. Race and gender-based slurs were top priorities in Trump's campaign strategy for the last three months, evidence that he was betting on the hatred and prejudices of many nerve-rattled Conservatives and independents.

It would be simple-minded to blame Harris' loss solely on these factors, though.

There have been plenty of women, even ethnic minorities, who've nabbed high offices despite systemic racism and sexism. Hell, even this year, not one but two badass bitches were elected to the Senate at the same time, eclipsing some bananas, centuries-long history!

I guess it sits well with Atlantic writer Yair Rosenberg when he says, "Obviously misogyny is real! But racism is real too. Plenty of racists voted for Obama anyway because they preferred him and his platform to the other guy. It's both anti-woman and self-defeating to claim women can't win."

Is Kamala Harris' downfall due to the Israel-Hamas kerfuffle?

The situation in the Gaza strip after Hamas' brutal attack in October 2023 has got Americans pickling in vengeance, and yes, it did affect the feelings of young, Muslim or Arab American voters, especially Independents who were eyeing some tough love for the Israel-Hamas conflict. Heck, it was expected to give momentum to alternative candidates, potentially snatching votes from Harris, considering that the state with the most Arab and Muslim voters is Michigan.

But, guess what? Polls are revealing that these voters still overwhelmingly decided to throw their support behind Harris, with approximately 61% choosing her over Trump or Independent candidates—yep, pretty darn close to Biden's 63% in 2020. Trump, on the other hand, got 30% of voters from these demographics, 5% less than in 2020. Jewish Americans shared similar opinions, with 67% voting for Harris and only 33% for Trump.

You'd think all those damn Christians would have stayed home during this election, but nope, they showed up in droves, supporting Trump and handing him a significant majority of their vote.

And what do you know? Independent candidates were a bigger threat in this election than in Biden's campaign. But guess what? Not a single swing state that Harris could have possibly won if every single Independent vote had gone her way.

So, where does that leave us?

The ladies who've mourned Harris's loss more than anyone else have got to be Black and Brown babes, because they see their losses reflected in hers. It's bloody exhausting to go through life getting belittled, patronized, undervalued, and doubted by both annoying men and clueless women. These hardworking, underappreciated babes deserve more than the lousy rewards they get, and on election day, they put it all out there for the whole world to see. Harris won the debate, led the polls, and presented herself as a strong, stable, and poised alternative to Trump's chaos, and it still wasn't enough.

Harris's loss, and the losses in the Senate and Congress, should be a giant wake-up call for Democrats to shake off their dusty old ideas and get clever, inventive ways to connect with Americans. The people have spoken (sorta), and whatever the Dems have been doing in the past few months clearly 'aint working.
