Deceitful Report of the Lifeless - "Deceptive Deceased" - Reality isn't what it appears to be in this case
"We've got a corpse, an injured officer, two armed suspects on the loose, and the situation's murky": Inspector Bram de Groot (Fedja van Huet) demands swift action from his team to tackle this intricate case.
The Amsterdam Whodunit
The 1000-apartment construction project sprawling over 30 hectares in Amsterdam doesn't sit well with everyone, but was a building department employee gunned down in broad daylight due to the project? Or was the wrong man targeted? Special investigator Alex Pollack (Hannes Jaenicke) apprehends one of the fugitives, the seemingly innocuous teenager Anouar (Hamza Iallouchen). But his sister, journalism student Sana, had recently met with the slain project manager — thereafter, she was found drowned in the canal.
Why's "The Deceitful Remains" worth the watch?
While the corpse's backstory eventually unfolds, the nail-biting tension comes from the perpetrators — a duo of brothers embarking on a sinister mission for vengeance.
What's the catch?
Though the plot blazes a trail off the beaten path, it demands unwavering attention to the very end, as the suspense isn't quite as gripping as some viewers might crave.
The investigators?
Initially, Alex Pollack gives off a tough, rugged persona, but as the story unfolds, a more empathetic side emerges, displaying an unexpected understanding of the culprits by the end.
To watch or not?
If you prefer thrillers with a touch of sophistication, intricate plotlines, or nail-biting suspense, this Amsterdam-set mystery might not fit the bill.
