National Archives Presents Film Screenings on Pearl Harbor and More
The National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, DC, is hosting a series of film screenings related to Pearl Harbor and the exhibition "Picturing the Century."
On Friday, December 8, the National Archives is presenting the 85-minute version of John Ford's documentary on the attack on Pearl Harbor, titled "December 7th." This powerful film will be screened at Noon in the theater of the National Archives Building on Pennsylvania Avenue. For the hearing-impaired, the theater is equipped with a system to enhance the volume of the public address system.
The downtown National Archives Building theater is not the only venue for these screenings. The National Archives at College Park will also host several screenings. On Monday, December 11, "December 7th" will be screened at Noon in the Auditorium at the National Archives at College Park. All programs at the National Archives at College Park are free and open to the public, and free parking is available.
Another film screening, Picture Power, produced by WGBH Boston, will take place on Monday, December 18 at Noon in the Auditorium at the National Archives at College Park. This 60-minute film is a fascinating exploration of the role of photography in shaping history and public opinion.
On Friday, December 15, Picture Power will be screened in the theater of the National Archives Building.
