"Tensions are high - we've got a dead body, an injured colleague, two armed suspects on the loose, and the situation remains unclear," Inspector Bram de Groot (Fedja van Huet) says, rallying his team to crack this mind-bending case.
An Amsterdam Thriller Unveiled
This thriller revolves around the controversial development project of a thousand apartments sprawling across thirty hectares of land in Amsterdam. Yet, it's unclear whether the building department employee brutally murdered in broad daylight in the city center was targeted due to this venture or a mix-up. Specially appointed investigator Alex Pollack (Hannes Jaenicke) manages to corner one of the suspects - the seemingly untainted teenager Anouar (Hamza Iallouchen). However, his sister, journalism student Sana, had met with the slain project manager before and was found dead in the canal later.
The Allure of "The False Dead"
As the veil lifts from the enigmatic dead man's life, it becomes clear that he led a double existence. Peculiarly, though, it's the tales of the suspects - two brothers driven by vengeance - that really capture our attention.
Room for Improvement
The narrative presents some captivating twists, but it feels slightly offbeat. It might keep you engaged until the end, but the suspense is noticeably lacking.
The Inspectors' Journey
At first glance, Alex Pollack seems to be a macho character. But as the story unfolds, he reveals a softer, more empathetic side. By the finale, he even seems to comprehend the suspects on a deeper level. Such may not be prevalent in typical thrillers.
