  • "We've got a deceased body, an injured colleague, and two heavily-armed suspects on the loose. The situation's a bloody mess, and time's ticking...": Inspector Bram de Groot (Fedja van Huet) is feeling the heat to crack this case that's as confusing as a riddle wrapped in an enigma.

A Fiery Debate Over Amsterdam's Growth

Deceitful Corpselike Appearance Unveiled - "Deceitful Deceased" - Reality is Staggeringly Inauthentic

The construction of a thousand apartments spanning 30 hectares isn't winning everyone over in Amsterdam. But is the gunning down of a building department employee in broad daylight in the city all because of this controversial project? Or have the assailants caught the wrong man? The cunning investigator Alex Pollack (Hannes Jaenicke) nabs one of the suspects, a seemingly untainted teenager named Anouar (Hamza Iallouchen). But his sister, journalism student Sana, had recently met with the murdered building project manager - and was later found floating in the canal.

The Allure of Deception

As the plot unfurls, it becomes apparent that the slain building project manager was concealing a dark secret. Meanwhile, it's the tale of the siblings in quest of retribution that truly captivates.

A Few Twists Too Many?

While pushing the boundaries is rarely a bad thing, this yarn does come with a few twists that might make your head spin. It holds your attention until the end, but the tension is nothing to write home about.

The Inspectors: A Closer Look

Alex Pollack first appears as a macho tough-guy, but he displays a more compassionate side throughout the story. By the end, he even seems to grasp the motivations of the suspects. This kind of character development isn't common in thrillers.

To Watch or Not to Watch?

Those who crave more refined, somewhat sophisticated thrillers stars or high-suspense cases might find this Amsterdam offering a tad disappointing.
