Jungle Cakes, a pioneering record label known for its influential role in the breakbeat, jungle, and drum and bass scenes, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a four-week residency at London's premier bass music venue, XOYO.

The residency, which kicked off on July 5, is being helmed by Ed Solo and Deekline, two of the most prominent producers associated with Jungle Cakes. Over the course of four weeks, they will be showcasing their favourite tracks from the label's past ten years, encapsulating the essence of Jungle Cakes' journey.

One of the chosen tracks is "Ed Solo & Deekline - King of the Bongo," a singalong anthem that is the soundtrack to many festival dreams. Another is "General Levy - The General (Ed Solo remix)," a tune that went off in the dance after being remixed by Ed Solo.

The Trojan remix project brought "Top Ranking - Upgrade & T>I Remix" out from being sizzled under for a while. This track, along with "Beat Assassins - Home Grown (Phibes remix)" and "Benny Page & Doktor - Warn Dem," with its big hook and the fusion of Doktor's soundclash lyricism and Benny's heavy horn sound, are all set to be played during the residency.

Deekline and Jah Cuzzi's "Three Little Birds" is a drum and bass version of the Bob Marley original, approved by the Bob Marley Foundation. Kaya Fyah, the brightest new star in the Jungle Cakes constellation, will also be featuring in the residency.

Kleu's remix of "Rudy, A Message To You" was cut from Jungle Cakes' Trojan remix project. However, Ed Solo received a promo from an unknown US artist and found him on Instagram, leading to the collaboration "Space" with AIRGLO.

"Space" was so loud that it broke Solo's loudness meter. The revolution continues with Kaya Fyah, the firestarter. "She Was Afraid" is a fiery slingshot of positive culture vibes featuring Kaya Fyah, Martial Taktics, MC Det, and Ed Solo.

Jungle Cakes played a key role in the underground electronic music culture of the UK, influencing the DJing and production styles in the jungle and drum and bass communities. While the label is no longer as active as during its peak in the 1990s and early 2000s, its records remain sought after by collectors and DJs who value the classic breakbeat and jungle sound. The collaborations between Ed Solo, Deekline, and others under Jungle Cakes have been credited with pushing the boundaries of bass music and inspiring newer generations of producers.

During the residency at XOYO, Ed Solo and Deekline will play music from various genres under the Jungle Cakes label, such as "Ed Solo & Deekline - King of the Bongo," a singalong anthem, and "General Levy - The General (Ed Solo remix)," a tune that went off in the dance. Additionally, sports fans might appreciate the drum and bass version of Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds," a collaboration between Deekline and Jah Cuzzi.
