Debtor Wagner faces first major insolvency after defeat against Augsburg in Mainz.

In a tense and error-filled match, FSV Mainz 05 celebrated a convincing 4-1 away victory over FC Augsburg, marking Sandro Wagner's first heavy defeat as a Bundesliga coach for the home team.

The game started with Mainz 05 showing superior composure and clever play, setting the tone for the match. Just seven minutes in, Chrislain Matsima made a poor pass that was intercepted by Kaishu Sano, leading to the opening goal.

Mainz's situation became more complicated when Dominik Kohr was sent off for a foul on Massengo in the 53rd minute, but this did little to deter the visiting team. Just a few minutes after Kohr's sending off, Mainz scored a counter-attack goal finished by Paul Nebel for 3:0.

Augsburg, appearing nervous and uncertain, made numerous blunders throughout the game, and found few openings in attack. Fabian Rieder's header hit the bar in the 63rd minute, but it was the closest the home team came to scoring.

Coach Wagner brought on four new players for the second half in an attempt to turn the tide, but it was Mainz who continued to dominate. Armindo Sieb scored the fourth goal for Mainz 05, ensuring the away victory.

Samuel Essende scored a consolation goal for Augsburg, but it was not enough to save the game. The home fans whistled in displeasure during the match, reflecting their team's poor performance.

Augsburg suffered their third consecutive defeat, with Mainz 05 celebrating a well-deserved victory. Alexis Claude-Maurice had a notable chance before half-time, but his volley was cleared by Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner, highlighting the home team's defensive struggles.

Kohr profited from a misunderstanding in Augsburg's defense for the second goal, while Kaishu Sano, Kohr, Paul Nebel, and Armindo Sieb scored for Mainz 05. The victory will provide a much-needed boost for Mainz 05, while Augsburg will have to regroup and find a way to improve their form.
