Debtor Safonov Prepared to Settle Alimony Obligations
Settling the Score
Footballer Matvey Safonov's alimony woes seem to be ending soon, thanks to his lawyer Andrei Kryuchkov. In an interview with Match TV, Kryuchkov shared that Safonov is prepared to clear his 60 million ruble debt, provided his ex-wife Anastasia doesn't have direct access to the funds.
Safonov has been regularly dishing out a cool 1 million rubles monthly for his daughter's maintenance and already pays the court-mandated amounts. However, the dealbreaker for him is that the money should go directly into their child's account.
Kryuchkov pointed out that Anastasia had been ignoring requests for documents regarding their child's expenses. He also expressed worry that without proper checking, a significant chunk of the funds might end up on Anastasia's personal expenses rather than the child's well-being.
The ex-wife's repeated claims to authorities, according to Kryuchkov, only serve to disturb the athlete's peace of mind. Previously, the courts had ruled that Safonov should fork out a quarter of his earnings as alimony. His attempts to challenge this decision were unsuccessful even in the higher courts.
