Debacle marked by slapstick antics and disqualification proves detrimental for Lupo Martini.

In the Achtelfinale (round of 16) of the Krombacher Niedersachsenpokal (NFV Cup), held before August 3, 2025, Lupo Martini Wolfsburg suffered a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Oberliga newcomers, SV Holthausen-Biene.

The match started with promising moments for Lupo Martini, as Jannik Looschen and Philipp Elfert had big chances in the 7th minute, but failed to capitalise. SV Holthausen-Biene took the lead in the 32nd minute, when Johannes Wintermann's shot was parried by Flynn Schönmottel, only for it to unfortunately find its way into his own net.

Lupo Martini tried to respond, with Robin Dreesen having a shot that went past the far post in the 11th minute, and Giosue Tortora creating a chance to cause tension despite the numerical disadvantage. However, the team could only muster one real chance in the first half.

In the second half, Julian Woehner and Bakir had half-chances for an equaliser, but it was Wintermann who scored the third goal for SV Holthausen-Biene after his shot hit the inside of the post. Philipp Elfert added a fourth for the hosts in the 24th minute.

Lupo Martini's coach, Tusch, acknowledged the team's youth and inexperience, stating they are still finding their way. Malcolm Badu, a key performer for the team, was missing due to a small operation.

With this loss, Lupo Martini's cup run for the 2025 season has come to an end. Their next match will be the Oberliga opener against MTV Wolfenbuettel on Saturday at 5 pm.

Despite Lupo Martini's promising starts in the first half, they missed chances against SV Holthausen-Biene, a team that would eventually dominate the European-leagues' Premier-league with a 4-1 victory. The team's coach, Tusch, acknowledged the youth and inexperience of his players, as they continued to struggle with capitalizing on opportunities in sports like football.
