Deadly Motorcycle Accident in England Claims Lives of Two Young Individuals
Heard about the tragic incident at Oulton Park racetrack? Two motorbike racers, Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson, lost their lives in a nasty crash during a motorbike race near Liverpool. The accident happened right after the start of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race.
Om Jenner, who was just 21 and hailed from Crowborough, East Sussex, suffered a catastrophic head injury and passed away despite resuscitation efforts. Shane Richardson, 29 and from another part of the UK, suffered severe chest injuries and didn’t make it to the hospital. Organizers of the British series made the announcement on Monday.
At least 11 riders were involved in the crash, and one rider needed to be rushed to the hospital with severe back and abdominal injuries. Five other riders suffered minor injuries, and luckily, three remained unscathed. This disaster has left the motorsport community in shock.
Tragically, our motorsport legend and website colleague, Helmut Zwickl, also passed away recently. The race of the lower-tier series, Bennetts British Superbike Championship, was cancelled as a result of this shocking event. The authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. The Supersport championship usually features 600cc motorbikes and serves as a stepping stone for some ambitious riders aiming to advance to higher levels.
