Deadly mid-air collision in Sydney leaves one pilot dead
A pilot has died after two light aircraft collided mid-air in Sydney’s south-west. The crash happened on Saturday, with one plane going down in bushland while the other landed safely.
The collision took place near an airfield in the city’s outer suburbs. One of the aircraft crashed into nearby bushland, killing its sole occupant. Emergency services recovered the body from the wreckage shortly after the incident.
The ATSB’s investigation will examine how the collision occurred. Police continue to secure the crash sites as part of their ongoing work. Further details are expected once the probe concludes.
