Deadly Illinois crash kills mother of two on icy Gurnee roads

A tragic car crash in Gurnee, Illinois, claimed the life of a woman and injured three others on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 8:54 p.m. on Grand Avenue when a driver lost control of their vehicle on icy roads. The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban struck a patch of ice, causing them to lose control and cross into oncoming traffic. The Suburban then collided head-on with a Ford Focus driven by 29-year-old Bria Allen from Waukegan. Unfortunately, Allen succumbed to her injuries at the scene, with the Lake County Coroner's Office later confirming she died from blunt force injuries. Allen's 5-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter were also in the car and were injured in the crash. They, along with the driver of the Suburban whose identity was not specified, were taken to area hospitals. Their current conditions remain unknown as of now. Gurnee police and the Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash. The fatal crash serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving on icy roads. Authorities urge drivers to take extra caution during winter conditions. The community mourns the loss of Bria Allen, and we await updates on the conditions of the injured individuals.
