DEA communication disregards actuality, claims Sheinbaum; Mexico's sovereignty must not be compromised, he emphasizes.

Mexico City, March 15 - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has denied the existence of the DEA's "Door Keeper" project, a joint initiative aimed at enhancing cooperation to combat drug trafficking and dismantle smuggling corridors. The denial came during a press conference at the National Palace.

The DEA's statement about the project, published two days prior, aligns with their broader efforts to address cross-border narcotics operations, similar to other initiatives like "Project Portero," which focus on disrupting drug smuggling routes. However, President Sheinbaum's denial suggests a lack of official recognition or authorization of this DEA-labeled initiative from the Mexican side.

During the press conference, the President did not clarify what differences she is referring to during the López Obrador sexenio. She also did not specify the DEA's interest in publishing the statement they did. The President emphasized that any relationship with foreign governments, including the United States, must be within the framework of the Mexican Constitution and in defense of sovereignty.

The only agreement in security matters that the President has mentioned is the one about to be signed with the United States Department of State. She clarified that the security agreement being completed is not with the DEA, but with the Department of State. The President did not provide details about the nature of the security agreement with the United States Department of State.

President Sheinbaum also stated that there is permanent information coordination between the Mexican security institutions and those of the United States government. However, she reiterated her commitment to always tell the truth and inform the Mexican people daily, and that she will never put sovereignty at risk. The President collaborates and coordinates with the United States government, but there will never be subordination.

The President did not mention any other agreements or projects with the DEA or any other US agencies, beyond the security agreement with the Department of State. She suggested that the DEA's recent statement may have been published to imply that things have changed under her administration. However, the President did not specify the DEA's intention in publishing the statement about the "Door Keeper" project.
