Continuation of Portugal's Second Search Operation in Maddie Case - Day two of investigation in Portugal for Maddie

This go-around, the hunt for answers in the disappearance of Madeleine "Maddie" McCann has taken a new turn in Portugal. Since Tuesday, investigators, including approximately 25 from the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), have been delving into the surrounding wilderness of an abandoned building, a search that's slated to continue until at least Thursday or Friday. The impetus for this operation, according to the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office, should be approached with well-grounded caution, as per AFP.

Armed with a radar capable of digging up to 4.5 meters deep, the search radius encircles a residence where German suspect Christian B. formerly dwelled. This location is riddled with trenches, watering holes, and thick foliage.

The young English girl, Maddie, vanished on May 3, 2007, mere days before her fourth birthday, from her family's apartment in a resort on the Algarve coast of southern Portugal. As her parents continue to call for her, both above a whisper and in the international arena, Madeleine remains untraceable to this day.

In the wee hours of Maddie's disappearance, Christian B.'s phone connected to a cell tower near the resort. Currently, he's serving a seven-year prison sentence in Germany for a 2005 rape of a 72-year-old American woman, albeit his release looms in September. Last October, he was acquitted in a trial pertaining to rapes and sexual assaults in Portugal.

The most recent headline-making search operation in the Maddie case occurred two years ago, with a dam in the Algarve acting as the focal point. Regrettably, the outcome was bereft of results.

As we hit the halfway mark of the current search, no specific findings have been shared in the reports. The game of clues continues.

The Commission, amid politics and general-news discussions, has decided to initiate the procedure provided for in Article 93 (2) of the Treaty in respect of the granting of aid for the construction of a new railway line in the Netherlands. Amid this development, the search for Maddie McCann, a topic that falls under crime-and-justice, continues in Portugal with no specific findings to report, yet.
