"Day 6 Box Office Earnings for War 2: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's film falls short and fails to rake in Rs 200 crore"
War 2, the much-anticipated action film directed by Ayan Mukerji, has been simultaneously released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film, starring Jr NTR in the Telugu version, has made a strong start at the box office, but its performance varies across regions and languages.
In the Hindi market, War 2 has been a success, becoming the 3rd highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2025. By day 13, the film had collected around ₹235.96 crore in India, with a strong opening of ₹29 crore and ₹175.75 crore net in the first week. However, the second week saw a steep drop in collections, with earnings around ₹17.75-20 crore, reflecting lower momentum despite decent overseas earnings adding up to a worldwide total near ₹340 crore.
In contrast, the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film, primarily driven by Jr NTR's star power, have shown strong initial interest. Hyderabad, in particular, recorded the highest number of shows for War 2 in Telugu, with 360 screenings. The Telugu version of the film drew 16.17% occupancy on August 19, while the Tamil version recorded 17.80% occupancy on Tuesday.
However, the overall trend indicates limited sustained growth after the first week. War 2 collected Rs 8.35 crore net on its sixth day in India, slightly dipping compared to Monday. The film was screened in 1,229 theaters in the Delhi NCR region on Tuesday, and Mumbai hosted 862 shows of War 2.
The regional dynamics of War 2's box office collection are interesting. While the Hindi version led the box office with major contributions from the Hindi belt, the Telugu and Tamil versions contributed substantially to the overall tally. However, word-of-mouth for War 2 weakened after release, impacting all versions' continued collections.
Despite this, War 2's performance continues to soar, indicating solid audience interest, especially in Hindi-speaking regions. The film has collected Rs 192.85 crore domestically, and expectations remain high as it nears its Rs 200-crore milestone in India. The global earnings of War 2 have not yet been disclosed, but they are expected to be significant.
In conclusion, War 2 opened strongly with a large combined Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu box office gross. The Hindi version particularly contributed majorly to collections, with Telugu and Tamil versions supported by Jr NTR’s presence. All regions showed a sharp decline post the first week, resulting in flat growth despite large initial numbers and decent overseas markets.
