"Day 1 Earnings at the Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda's Spy-Action Movie Falls Short of Liger's Inaugural Gross"

In theatres since July 31, 2022, the highly-anticipated spy-action drama "Kingdom" has made a strong start at the box office. Starring Vijay Deverakonda, the film collected an estimated Rs 15.50 crore on its opening day, marking the highest of Deverakonda's career.

While the opening day collection was not enough to surpass the earnings of the 2022 film "Liger" on its first day, which stood at Rs 16 crore, Kingdom has shown promising early performance and positive reviews. Netizens have hailed Deverakonda's performance in the action drama as powerful.

The film's occupancy rates were generally solid throughout the day. The morning shows, in particular, had a slightly higher occupancy rate of 63.56%, followed by the night shows with 61.27%. The afternoon shows had a slightly lower occupancy rate compared to the morning, night, and overall occupancy rates, with 57.87% overall.

In North America premieres, "Kingdom" grossed approximately $934K, which is higher than Liger's $504K and Kushi's $474K in the same region, indicating a better overseas reception on opening compared to Liger.

For "Kingdom" to be considered a success, it needs to reach about Rs 130 crore net at the Indian box office. By comparison, Vijay's highest-grossing film before "Kingdom" was "Geetha Govindam" with around Rs 88 crore net.

With strong advance bookings and premiere shows, "Kingdom" has generated over Rs 6 crore in advance tickets sold, and longtime fan enthusiasm has contributed to the film's strong global opening, including over 15,000 tickets sold for US premiere shows, collecting more than $400,000.

In summary:

| Film | Opening Day India (Rs) | North America Premiere Gross ($) | Total Box Office Prospects | |-----------------|-----------------------|----------------------------------|------------------------------------------| | Kingdom (2025) | Rs 15.50 crore | $934K | Needs ~Rs 130 crore net to break even | | Liger (2022) | Rs 16 crore | $504K | Bollywood flop overall despite strong start | | Kushi (2023) | Rs 15.25 crore | $474K | Underperformed compared to expectations | | Geetha Govindam | - | - | Rs 88 crore net (Vijay's highest grosser before Kingdom) |

Thus, while "Kingdom" did not surpass Liger's day 1 India opening by much, it has had a better overseas premiere and is showing overall stronger early momentum, potentially surpassing Liger’s eventual box office results.

In the realm of movies-and-tv entertainment, "Kingdom" has been making waves internationally, with its North American premiere grossing more than the previous films "Liger" and "Kushi." The film also generated strong advance bookings, selling over 15,000 tickets and collecting more than $400,000 in premiere shows, reflecting its promising entertainment value.
