Davis Cup veteran expresses personal views on Kasatkina
Russia's tennis veteran Andrei Olhovskiy, a two-time Davis Cup finalist and former world No. 6 in doubles, shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Daria Kasatkina's potential citizenship switch and the pressure she might be facing in a conversation with "Gazeta.Ru."
While Olhovskiy did not delve deeply into the Kasatkina situation, he acknowledged that all professional athletes are accustomed to dealing with such issues. He emphasized the crucial role that psychology plays for the athletes, particularly regarding their comfort levels.
Ranked 17th in the world, Kasatkina is scheduled to face Spanish player Paula Badosa, seeded 10th, in the third round of the French Open, also known as Roland Garros. If successful, Kasatkina would meet either Mirra Andreeva, Russia's sixth-ranked player, or Yulia Putintseva, the 32nd seed representing Kazakhstan, in the fourth round.
At the previous Roland Garros, Kasatkina eliminated her Ukrainian opponent.

These factors can indeed create pressure, as athletes may feel the need to represent their new country effectively and meet the expectations of their teammates and fanbase.
Tennis, like other sports, requires athletes to adapt to various challenges, including cultural adjustments and managing pressure when changing nationalities. Andrei Olhovskiy, a veteran tennis player, emphasized the importance of psychological comfort for athletes in such situations.
