David Lynch's Collection Up for Bid: An Unusual Auction Event Combining Marvel and the Bizarre

The upcoming auction hosted by Julien's Auctions, titled "The David Lynch Collection," is set to offer more than 450 personal items that once belonged to the legendary filmmaker. These items range from filmmaking equipment to furniture, vinyl records, memorabilia, art supplies, home decor, clothing, books, and scripts.

The collection includes a mid-century furniture set, featuring a vintage tan chenille upholstered Boomerang sofa similar to the one used in Lynch's film, Lost Highway. Among the camera equipment, notable items include a 16mm Canon Scoopic movie camera, Sony a7R and a7S cameras, and a Canon 5D Mark III DSLR.

Musical instruments in the collection include a 2012 Danny Ferrington custom console steel guitar with five fretted necks, designed and played by Lynch. The personal collection of Blue Velvet record albums is another noteworthy item.

Memorabilia from Lynch's films, such as the Twin Peaks Black Lodge red curtain and black-and-white zigzag rug, Lynch's director's chair, and a personal 35mm print of Eraserhead, are also up for grabs. Art supplies from his home art studio, including paint cans, brushes, rollers, and a Logan Desk-Top easel, are part of the auction.

Custom-made wooden shop tools and items like a La Marzocco GS/3 Home Espresso Machine can be found among the home decor items, along with hats, shoes, and clothes. Books and scripts, including personal literature and film scripts, round up the collection.
